The island of Thassos is located in the
northeastern part of Greece, 8 kilometers from the Macedonian coast.
Thanks to the rows of olive groves on the
hillsides and dense pine forests, Thassos has been given the epithet of the
greenest Greek island. The rich vegetation of Thassos justifies the nickname
"swimming forest". Quality marble is another treasure of this island.
Limenaria is the southernmost town on the island and has a beautiful beach, shops,
cafes and taverns.
The resorts of Potos and Pefkari attract young people because they have plenty of space for nights outs.
Limenas is a port town with a beautiful
promenade, a street full of shops, cafes, restaurants, and two city beaches. Above
the center are two old fortifications and a dozen archeological sites:
the sanctuaries of Poseidon and Dionysus, the Passage of the Gods, and the circular
altar of Theagenius (a famous athlete from Thassos).
Thassos and its beautiful beaches, nature,
climate, hospitality and smiling faces of the hosts will surely revive you.
